Film, VFX, and post-production
Luma AI exports 16-bit EXR frames in ACES2065-1, so a colorist can grade the shot and a compositor can load it without converting. That makes it a previs and plate tool, not just a social toy.
Luma AI is not on Ricebowl yet. The generator above runs MiniMax H3 for now, so use it to get a similar result: write a prompt, add a still or references. A 6-second 768p clip costs 20 credits, more than the 8 free sign-up credits. Below is what Luma AI does and what it costs.

CAPABILITIES
Feature 01
Text or a still in, a 1080p shot out
Luma AI turns a text prompt or a single image into a clip with natural motion and believable light. Its Ray3 generation made 1080p native, and Ray3.2 now renders clips of up to 20 seconds at 1080p, long enough for a full scene rather than a teaser.
Feature 02
Change the look, keep the performance
Luma AI can restyle as well as generate. Modify Video V2 swaps the wall, the world, or the wardrobe of footage you already have while the actor's performance stays intact, and Ray3.2 adds relighting, environment change, and character transformation on top.
Feature 03
A model that plans the shot before it renders
Ray3 was introduced as the first reasoning video model: it plans a scene, checks its own draft, and refines it. Ray3.14 added better prompt adherence, and Ray3.2 lets you place up to 16 keyframes in one clip, so you can direct what changes and what holds instead of hoping the prompt lands.
PROMPT EXAMPLES
Prompt
Use the reference photo as the first frame. A heavy wooden door swings open onto a glowing meadow at dusk, warm light spills across the floor, slow dolly forward through the doorway, 16:9, 6 seconds.

Prompt
Start from the reference outfit photo. The model turns once in front of a sunlit wall, the jacket swings with the turn, handheld camera at waist height, bright street ambience, 9:16, 6 seconds.

WHO IT IS FOR
Luma AI exports 16-bit EXR frames in ACES2065-1, so a colorist can grade the shot and a compositor can load it without converting. That makes it a previs and plate tool, not just a social toy.
Product Swap and Reframe let an agency adapt one master shot into many markets and aspect ratios. Dentsu Digital was Luma AI's sole launch partner in Japan for Ray3.
Try this use case →Relight a product shot, swap the packaging, or move the camera around it. Teams use Luma AI to reshoot without a studio day.
Try this use case →Motion Transfer and Expressive Facial Performance carry a dancer's or singer's movement onto a new character, tracking up to eight faces at once.
Draft Mode renders cheap test clips first, and only the winners get mastered to 1080p, which keeps a campaign's credit spend under control.

WHAT USERS SAY
01
Creators pick Luma AI for smooth, cinematic camera moves and light that looks photographed. Keyframes make those moves repeatable instead of lucky.
02
The most praised Dream Machine feature is changing footage you already have: new wardrobe, new set, new time of day, same performance.
03
A 10-second 1080p Ray3.2 clip costs 1,200 credits, so a $30 Plus plan covers about eight of them. Users draft at low resolution and master only the keepers.
04
Luma AI's price table lists no audio for Ray models. People who want dialogue or effects in the same pass pick a model with native audio and use Luma AI for picture-first shots.
VERSIONS
Start every new project on Ray 3, not Ray 2. Luma AI's pricing page no longer lists Ray2 at all.
Luma AI's 2025 model. It has been dropped from the pricing page, so there is no reason to start new work on it.
Added reasoning, 16-bit HDR, Draft Mode, and native 1080p.
Made 720p 3x cheaper and 4x faster than Ray3, with better prompt adherence.
Added up to 16 keyframes in one clip and clips of up to 20 seconds at 1080p.
WHAT SETS IT APART
01
Luma AI's Dream Machine is not a free tool. Its pricing page lists three individual plans, Plus at $30, Pro at $90, and Ultra at $300 a month, with no free plan. Plus buys 10,000 credits, which is 25 five-second 1080p Ray3.2 clips.
02
Pick Luma AI over Veo 3.1 when the shot is headed for a grade or a composite: HDR, EXR, and up to 16 keyframes in one clip are Luma AI's strengths. Pick Veo 3.1 when you need sound in the same render. On Luma AI's own credit table, Veo 3.1 costs 140 credits a second against 80 for Ray3.14 at 1080p.
OUR TAKE
Reworking footage. Modify Video, relighting, and product swap keep the original performance, and 16-bit EXR output drops straight into a grade, so Luma AI is the first choice when the input is real video and the output goes to a colorist.
Veo 3.1 for sound-on social clips, Luma AI for silent shots that need direction and a grade. If the clip needs dialogue, Luma AI is the wrong tool today.
Ray3.14 is, because it is cheaper than the original Ray3. Pay for Ray3.2 only when you need keyframes or HDR, since HDR doubles the credit cost and HDR plus EXR triples it.

None of these three runs on Ricebowl. The generator on this page runs MiniMax H3 (768p or 2K, up to 15 seconds, sound included). Sora is listed because people still search for it; OpenAI has shut it down.

Luma AI (Dream Machine) is not on Ricebowl yet. The generator at the top of this page runs MiniMax H3, which covers the same text-to-video and image-to-video jobs. New accounts get 8 free credits, not enough for a 6-second 768p clip, which costs 20.

Describe the subject, the action, the camera move, and the light. Add a first frame, a last frame, or up to nine reference images to hold the look, the same way you would plan a Luma AI shot.

No. Luma AI's pricing page lists three paid individual plans, starting with Plus at $30 a month for 10,000 credits, and no free plan. The generator on this page gives new accounts 8 free credits, but that is not enough for a 6-second MiniMax H3 clip, which costs 20 credits.
Not yet. Luma AI is not on Ricebowl, and the generator above runs MiniMax H3 for now. It handles the same jobs, text to video, image to video, and first and last frames, and it adds native sound. When Luma AI is added, it will appear in the same model picker.
Dream Machine is Luma AI's web app. You type a prompt or upload an image, pick a Ray model, resolution, and length, and it renders the clip. Ray3 reasons about the prompt before rendering, and you can steer it further with keyframes, Extend, Loop, and Modify Video.
Luma AI makes cinematic text-to-video and image-to-video clips, and it edits existing footage: relighting, environment change, character transformation, product swap, and reframing to new aspect ratios. Output is 1080p, with 16-bit HDR and EXR for film work.
Speed depends on the model and resolution. Luma AI says Ray3.14 is 4x faster than Ray3 at 720p, and Ray3's Draft Mode renders test videos up to 10 times faster than a full-quality render, so the usual workflow is to draft quickly and master the keepers.
Ray3 is the third generation of Luma AI's video model, launched in September 2025 as the first reasoning video model and the first to generate 16-bit HDR. It has since been updated to Ray3.14, which is cheaper and faster, and Ray3.2, which adds 16 keyframes and 20-second clips.
Yes. Luma AI's Modify Video reshapes footage you upload, changing the set, wardrobe, or style while keeping the performance. On Ray3.2 it runs up to 20 seconds at 1080p and costs 144 credits per second at 1080p on Luma AI's own plans.
Anyone with a Luma AI account and a paid plan. Individual plans cover solo creators, and business plans add shared credits, team projects, and SSO. Developers can use Ray3.2 through the Luma AI API.
For most people the best Luma AI alternative is MiniMax H3 on Ricebowl: it runs up to 15 seconds at 2K, generates sound in the same pass, and a 6-second 768p clip costs 20 credits. For a 4K hero shot, Veo 3.1 is also on Ricebowl. Try both in the generator above.
